The American people are smarter than Obama realizes

Today (Thursday, July 15) President Obama attended a groundbreaking ceremony in Holland, Michigan to salute a South Korean-owned factory that will make electric car batteries. During the ceremony Obama heralded the success of his $862 billion economic stimulus package. The day before the White House claimed that 3 million jobs have already been saved or created through the stimulus package money.
As for the South Korean electric car battery plant, which is being subsidized by $151 million from the stimulus fund, the plant is expected to employ 300 workers, which works out to more than $500,000 per job created.
Despite Obama’s salutary rhetoric, the American people aren’t buying it. A CBS poll of 7/15 indicates how 74% of the American people believe the Obama stimulus either damaged the economy or had no effect. More troubling yet for Obama is that a recent Washington Post poll notes that a majority of Americans disapprove of President Obama’s handling of the economy.
Unlike Obama, many Americans realize that government spending does not stimulate economic growth. It only moves resources from the private to the government sector of the economy, destroying jobs in the process.
